Monthly Oracle Card Spreads for Beginners

Oracle cards offer a versatile and user-friendly approach to tapping into intuition and gaining insights. Their flexibility in themes and interpretations makes them appealing to a wide range of users. Whether one seeks guidance, clarity, or simply a deeper connection with their intuition, oracle decks provide a tool for exploration and self-reflection. Additionally, the accompanying guidebooks often offer helpful tips and spreads, enhancing the overall experience for users.

I’ve shared three of my favorite monthly oracle card spreads below, but they may also be used with Tarot.

Getting Started

Many decks come with sample card readings in their instruction books, you can also find many examples of readings online. I usually do a 1 card reading when needing a daily message or some inspiration, a 3 or 5 card reading when needing direction on a situation or decision and utilize the cross for my monthly readings. Once you have decided on the reading you will do it’s time to ground yourself and set your intention.

To start make sure you deck has been cleansed. (Find out more about that in this blog post.) Then I place both feet flat on the ground and imaging light energy flowing in through the top of my head and filling me up. I take in a deep breath through my nose for a count of 6 and blow it out for a count of 8. You always want to exhale more than you inhale. Think of it as releasing all that you no longer need. I repeat this several times as I picture roots flowing out of my feet and sinking deep into mother earth to ground me. I generally feel tingling moving up my legs letting me know I am grounded. Some people feel it as electricity, some heat, and some color. Holding the deck in my hand while still breathing I set the intention of the reading by stating the question or request I have that I would like guidance with. If you are unsure you can use, “Please show me what I need to know for today for my greatest good. “

Next, shuffle the cards, cut them into three piles and reassemble them. Based on my intuition for the day I will either spread them out and choose the cards by running my hand over the deck with my eyes closed and pulling the ones I feel connected or called to, or I will just pull them off the top of the deck.

I’ve shared three of my favorite monthly card spreads below. You can find more spreads here, as well as in my shop.

Incorporating oracle card readings into your daily practice can deepen your connection with intuition and provide valuable insights into various aspects of your life. By following these simple steps for getting started, you can create a sacred space for reflection, guidance, and self-discovery. Remember to trust your intuition throughout the process and remain open to the messages the cards may reveal. With time and practice, you'll develop a deeper understanding of the cards and their significance, empowering you to navigate life's journey with clarity and confidence.
